UNI 8065:2019 STANDARD

The new UNI 8065 standard came into force on 18 July 2019: “Water treatment in winter and summer air conditioning systems, for the production of domestic hot water and in solar thermal systems”.

Being a UNI standard, it is not mandatory but there are decrees such as the Ministerial Decree of 26 June 2015, which take it as a reference, making it mandatory.

The substantial changes are:

• Obligation to install a safety filter at the entrance to the heating and/or domestic hot water production circuit.
• Obligation to install a dirt separator filter on the return of the air conditioning circuit.
• Obligation to wash the air conditioning system every time it is modified (e.g. replacement of the heat generator).
• Obligation to always carry out a chemical conditioning.
• For systems with a capacity greater than 100 kW, the installation of a softener is mandatory to bring the hardness between 5 and 15°f.
• Periodic checks on system water are extended.
